Lunar New Year Celebration at Disney California Adventure

It's the Year of the Rabbit, which means lucky for us- more Oswald merchandise!

The 2023 Lunar New Year is upon us, and so is the beloved celebration at Disney California Adventure. This being my second year visiting the festival booths, I noticed some returning favorites from last year, some exciting new foods as well. Below is a guide to all your foodie needs at this year's festival.

Festival Update: The Sip and Savor Pass is only 6 tabs this year, Magic Key Holders still get a discount and custom lanyard. Also, guests are no longer allowed to order items from different booths all at once.

Bamboo Blessings

Our first stop is a familiar favorite, the Mickey Shaped Hot Dog Bun and Mickey Shaped Purple Sweet Potato Macaron.

These two snacks are great for kids and adults, with fun Mickey shapes and very approachable flavors. Both are slightly more Instagrammable than they are delicious, but still worth checking out. The macaron is a tad too sweet and the hot dog bun is a tad bland, so if you're looking for more stand out items this year, I would venture into other booths.

Lucky 8 Lantern

This booth is a little off the beaten path, hidden away near Grizzly Peak. This is wonderful to get away from the crowds and enjoy the scenery.

The Quesabirria Eggroll here is an absolute must-try. It's a little hard to share only one egg roll, I had hoped they would provide two, but the size makes up for it. If you're a fan of the Quesabirria Tacos at Cocina Cucamonga, you will absolutely love this snack. It's basically the taco rolled into a burrito. As expected the dipping sauce enhanced the dish, and made this a really fun snack.

Wrapped With Love

Wrapped with Love is a new booth this year, featuring an assortment of wontons and dumplings.

They had a vegan option here, but we of course went for the Pork and Shrimp Wontons with a black garlic sauce. The portion was three wontons, which is absolutely perfect for sharing (I wish the egg roll took notes). It also comes with another fantastic dipping sauce, and I hope they keep this booth next year!

Prosperity Bao & Bun

The Char Sip BBQ Pork Bun from Prosperity Bay & Bun is a must-have. The balance of sweet and spice really blend perfectly in this bun. So much flavor in each bite!

I love how soft the bun is, but unfortunately that means it's not the most sturdy- ours fell apart as you can see in the photo here.

I would have loved to also try the Pepperoni Pizza Bao Bun, but they were sold out. Must be popular!

Longevity Noodle Co.

This is definitely one of the most popular booths, and for good reason. It was a stand out in last year's foodie guide, and I'll recommend it again and again!

The Garlic Noodles are so simple yet so delicious. It's a great comfort food. Last year we had the Spicy Pork Dandan Noodles, which were also yummy if you're looking for a more flavorful noodle.

My last foodie recommendation does not come from a festival booth, but from the Cappuccino Cart near the Pixar Pier Bridge. I ordered the Green Tea Horchata and it changed my life. Prior to moving to California I was unfamiliar with both Green Tea and Horchata, and boy was I missing out. This is such a unique combination it was an explosion of flavors I was not expecting. At first, I was unsure if it was for me, but after the second sip I was hooked. This drink is the perfect pick me up in the middle of a long Disney day.

Happy Lunar New Year from TaylorVisitsDisney and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit!
