Star Wars Episodes Ranked

1. The Empire Strikes Back

Empire has the most iconic scenes from the Hoth battle to "Luke, I am your father". This is where we see the most of Han and Leia's relationship, and nothing beats the carbon freezing scene. We also meet incredible characters like Yoda and Lando.

2. Attack of the Clones

This is a controversial opinion, but Attack of the Clones has many of my favorite Star Wars moments. This is where we start to see Anakin's transition to the dark side, and his internal struggle with not feeling accepted, and his fear of loss. Padme has several badass moments throughout the film. Also Across the Stars is the most beautiful song I've ever heard.

3. Return of the Jedi

This is the most heartwarming of all the films, because this is where we see all of our original characters celebrating their victory and everyone is happy. The scene where Leia kills Jabba is almost reason enough for this to be in my top three.

4. Rise of Skywalker

Rise is the best out of the sequels because it fixes everything that's wrong about The Last Jedi. I was very pleased with how they ended the sequels, and Rey's story arch. There are a few cringe moments but overall it was a satisfying ending. The fans get a lot of closure and it balances the serious and comedic scenes well.

5. A New Hope

A New Hope started it all, and introduced the most beloved characters of all time. This is where we see the most innovative special effects for it's time, alongside a great storyline with amazing characters. The only reason it's not higher up in the list is because of the pacing. I love the inspiration in the themes, it inspires people to believe in heroes, a sense of adventure, and have hope.

6. The Phantom Menace

Darth Maul makes this movie a stand out in the trilogy. This started off the prequels with a bang- mostly good but also some bad (looking at you Jar Jar). The music is so powerful and the lightsaber battle is next level from the original trilogy.

7. Revenge of the Sith

This movie is so low on my list purely based on the fact that I'm emotionally traumatized by it. Every moment is just heartbreaking which makes it difficult to enjoy. There are still many jaw dropping moments that make it a great film, but it's not my favorite to watch.

8. The Force Awakens

The Force Awakens was a highly anticipated movie for me, and when it came out I was very excited to see where the trilogy would go. I left the theater thinking it was one of the best movies ever made, but now I realize this is because it's the same plot line as A New Hope. It is a fantastic movie, but it's not very original.

9. The Last Jedi

There are so many reasons why this is the last on my list. I wish a lot of things were different about how they approached the second film in the sequels. Although there are some good moments, the upsetting ones overpowered them. Rose was a useless character, Kylo and General Hux were just goofy, and it seemed rushed. The only redeeming scene is when Kylo and Rey battle the First Order guards.
